The currency used in Egypt is the Egyptian Pound, although you can use credit cards at most hotels restaurants, larger shops and in order to withdraw money from ATMs - provided that they are either Visa or MasterCard.
Prices in restaurants include a 12% Service charge although if service is particularly good, it is customary to round the bill up.
In Egypt everything is negotiable, and so you should expect to bargain at every stall you stop at. You should remember never to agree a price that you are unable to pay, as this will cause offence, and enjoy the back and forth for what it is - a friendly exchange. It's not the be all and end all if you don't buy something.
