The biggest football team in the country are Skonto Riga, who exert an utter dominance over the rest of the Latvian teams, winning both the league and cup regularly. Although still minnows by European standards, they are regular fixtures in the early stages of the UEFA competitions, and the Skonta Stadium is a good place to watch a match if you're in town when they play.
Otherwise, sports fans can content themselves on Riga's only golf course just outside the city, where non-members are welcome to play on payment of green fees. The course can be booked through the concierge at most hotels.
