Three King's Parade is celebrated on January 5 by thousands of children in an impressive cavalcade of sheep, camels, and donkeys. With more bona fide Irish people than Dublin, the St Patrick's Day Parade in New York on March 17th is celebrated with a great deal of verve. Other events include Independence Day festivities on July 4 when you can see huge fireworks displays in Central Park, and to start the Christmas Shopping season, the Rockefeller Centre Christmas - Tree Lighting in November is a good event.
The New York Film Festival attracts actors from all over the world in September, and the Caribbean carnival lights up the city streets on Labour Day (The first Monday in September).
