These days, the main attraction for most visitors to Palm Springs is the clean air, hot weather and the chance to play a few rounds of golf on one of the many world class courses that surround the city area. Many of the luxurious hotels act as self contained resorts where you can relax by the pool and dine out in fine restaurants, so many people never feel the need to get out and see the town itself, which is a shame, as the artistic nature of the community means that there are several excellent galleries exhibiting contemporary works of art, and a large variety of places to eat, which offer more choice and better value than many of the hotel restaurants.
