This vast city has plenty to confuse, entertain, and enthral the visitor, and many people find that the longer they stay in the city, the more things that they realise that there are to see. Some of the most popular, and accessible attractions include the Centro Historico, where you can explore the Mexican old town, and see the colonial architecture and palaces that date back to the beginning of the city. The area of Zocalo is the nerve centre of the whole country, and is where you will find the presidential palace and the government buildings as well as the vast flag that flies over the Zocalo central square, which has become a landmark in the city.
The most historic place in Centro Historico is the Templo Mayor - Main temple of the Aztec city Tenochtitlan that preceded modern Mexico City. The remains, which were unearthed in 1978, are now a tourist attraction, and you can get a guided tour.
The tallest building in the city, the Torres LatinoAmerica skyscraper is on the fringes of Centro Historica, and from the top you get spectacular panoramic views over the city that show you just how large it actually is.
