The currency of Mexico is the New Peso, although US Dollars are accepted in many places, and you can use credit cards for payment in almost all shops and hotels. Withdrawal of cash from local ATMs is possible provided that your card bears the Visa logo.
On the whole tipping is expected, and is usually around 10% outside cities, and 15-20% in tourist type bars and restaurants.
Haggling is expected in market places, but unless you speak reasonably good Spanish, do not expect too big a discount.
