London Getting Around in London
A comprehensive guide to Getting Around in London! Find out how to get around on foot, by Bus, by Taxi, by Train, by Limousine or Car Hire London Service. Includes a public transportation guide, daily schedules, passenger times and fees, and many helpful hints and tips.
London has one of the most comprehensive travel networks in the world when everything goes according to plan and there's no-one off on strike.
The London Underground, or Tube connects most places in the centre with each other, and you're never more than about 5 minutes away from a station. You can buy a daily pass for less than £5 that allows you to travel free for the whole day (outside peak hours).
The famous London black cabs will go everywhere that the tubes will not, and the taxi drivers know almost every short cut and route that you can imagine, and are very difficult to stump. Typically they expect the fare to be rounded up, and in truth, they do deserve it.
Open top buses are a great way of seeing the sights of London, and tours on them are great value for money, and with a good guide, are a lot of fun too.
