Lufthansa Plans Edinburgh Airport Expansion

German carrier Lufthansa will be offering more services from the Scottish capital over the next 18 months, according to reports coming out of Edinburgh.

It appears that the airline will probably increase the number of flights to Frankfurt they offer daily and may also add another major German city to their schedule, although nothing has been confirmed so far. At the moment Frankfurt is often a transfer point for travellers from Edinburgh, who often go on to destinations further afield. Adding to the frequency of flights then would certainly make sense, offering more connection options for ongoing passengers.

There is also a strong contingent of business travellers heading to Frankfurt and other German economic centres. This is another alternative Lufthansa is looking at, with flights to Munich or Dusseldorf being the most likely options.
