Doha based state run airline Qatar Airways has been forced to take out long term leases on 6 Airbus planes from US CIT group as it fights to meet rising demand within the Middle East Aviation industry. Qatar Airways gets bigger planes
Doha based Qatar Airlines has become the launch customer of the world’s longest aircraft – the Airbus A340-600HGW. The new plane, which went into service last week is more than 10 metres longer than the Boeing 747, and carries up to 412 passengers in a 2-class configuration. The Aircraft, which is a development of the existing Airbus A340-600 class plane is also certified as the longest range aircraft in the world – able to fly non-stop between Doha and the US East Coast city of New York.

Additional flights with Qatar from the UK
Qatar Airways has continued its expansion in the UK with the introduction of a third daily flight between Doha and Heathrow along with the increase in frequency of their Doha Manchester Service to a daily operation. This increases the total number of weekly flights operated between Qatar and the UK from 26 to 35 – a total of 5 a day spread between Heathrow, Gatwick, and Manchester.
