New Zealand is a major sporting nation, and is particularly successful in Rugby and Cricket, with both teams amongst the best in the world.
The city is also a huge sailing town, and recently host of the America's cup, the Harbourfront area is filled with boats, and give the Auckland its nickname as the City of Sails.
Locally available, there are several golf courses of championship standard, as well as a couple of racetracks where you can go for a flutter.
For swimming surfing and other water sports, head to the beaches along Tamaki Drive, where you can rent out boards and sea Kayaks by the hour to take advantage of the water, as well as organise a diving trip out into the bay.
