Romanian Expansion For Lufthansa

Lufthansa are maintaining their development of the Eastern European flight market by setting up a third route into Romania from Munich. Flights to Romania have so far gone to Bucharest and Timisoara, but come September the city of Sibiu will also be included.

Romania has enjoyed significant economic expansion since joining the European Union this year, and Lufthansa wish to ensure that growth continues by enabling travel between the key cities and the rest of Europe. The airline feels that if they can become the best known carrier in the area then they can use that exposure to further develop new routes, their brand name drawing passengers to them.

Lufthansa are perhaps the best positioned European carrier to open up Romanian travel routes thanks to their good geographic location in the heart of Europe and also because Germany has the greatest levels of trade with Romania, so there is a natural requirement for communication between the two countries.
