Lisbon is a great city for sports fans, and has two excellent football teams in Benfica, and Sporting Lisbon, who compete for honours in the Portuguese first division. Tickets are usually available on the day of the match for both teams, except for derby games, which are normally sold out.
There are several championship golf courses in the area around Lisbon, and non-members can normally play these provided that tee times are booked in advance. The best-known courses in the area are close to the coast, in particular around Estoril.
Bull fighting is a popular spectator sport in Lisbon, although unlike the Spanish Version, the bull is not usually killed. The biggest matches are on a Thursday at Campo Pequeno.
