The biggest event of the year is the annual Malaysian Grand Prix held at the Sepang Race Track just outside the city. Usually held in March, the Formula One race attracts hundreds of thousands of fans all of them hoping that one-day someone might manage to overtake someone else.
Kuala Lumpur also hosts many conventions throughout the year, and is a popular sports centre with top class facilities left over from the 1998 Commonwealth Games. For golf fans, there are many championship standard courses not far from the city, which allow non-members to play, provided that the tee times are booked in advance, and the green fees are paid.
