From Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to the city, it is a 75 KM journey by the KLIA Ekspres train (about 30 minutes) or car (about 45 minutes - 1 hour depending on traffic).
It is possible to hire a car at the airport, but if you are planning to spend time in the city before you drive elsewhere, you should wait until you are ready to go, as your own car is not much help in the city, and will leave you feeling frustrated, and quite probably lost.
Taxis are the best way to get around and you can either agree a fare, or rely on the meter. Because of one way routes and odd looking road layouts, travelling through Kuala Lumpur can be a circuitous affair, but on the whole the taxi drivers are honest, and do take the shortest possible route, no mater how long.
