Shops in Budapest are open from 9am - 6pm Monday to Friday and until 1pm on Saturdays, although many of the larger shops tend to open until 9pm on Thursdays. Due to the relatively low cost of living in Hungary, many things do appear to be very good value in Budapest, and the city is a great place to pick up Hapsburg style antiques, as it is far cheaper than Vienna for the same products.
The main shopping areas are in Vaci Utca, which is where you can find up to date designer stores, and department stores and pick up some great value goods. The collection of markets at Nagy Vasarcsarnok are an excellent place to pick up some real bargains.
