Spring is a great time to visit, as February and March sees Budapest host three of the largest of its annual festivals - the Busojaras - the Mardi Gras carnival, and the Budapest Film Festival in February, and the two week long cultural celebration of all things Hungarian at the Budapest Spring Festival in March.
Fans of Bulgarian produced alcohol will no doubt be extremely excited by the prospect of the wine and champagne festival in September, which takes place to celebrate the wine harvest.
