Dhaka Currency in Dhaka foreign exchange rates

What is the Currency in Dhaka? Find out what type of money or foreign currency you will need when travelling to Dhaka. Learn about foreign exchange rates, Banking, Currency & Taxes...

The currency used in Bangladesh is the Taka and credit cards are only accepted in hotels in the larger cities such as Dhaka and Chittagong, while for exchange rates, it is best to stick to traveller's cheques in US dollars rather than cash or sterling.

Bangladesh is extremely good value as a destination, and these days a good meal in a reasonable local restaurant is available from less than £5 for two people - although you'll need to pay much more in a tourist hotel.

Like India and Pakistan, the Bangladeshi people like to be tipped before they do something, and the practise of Baksheesh is evident in many places - you tip the waiter to give you a good table (and once again for good service), you tip the hotelier to give you a better room, and you tip the local police to forget the charges.
