Casablanca Currency in Casablanca foreign exchange rates

What is the Currency in Casablanca? Find out what type of money or foreign currency you will need when travelling to Casablanca. Learn about foreign exchange rates, Banking, Currency & Taxes...

The local currency is the Moroccan Dirham. Most major credit cards are widely accepted in the main cities, and in most hotels throughout the country, although you should stick to cash as often as possible.

You can change money at the banks in most cities, although rates can vary, and you get the best exchange rate for Euros in cash rather than in Travellers Cheques. You can withdraw money from Banks in Tangiers, Casablanca and Marrakech - although you will normally have to pay a fee to do so.

Because the tourism industry in the country is so established, tipping is expected in almost all restaurants and from cab drivers. You should also expect to offer "gifts" - ie bribes in many places for almost any service you might want or not want.

Bargaining in the souks and bazaars is accepted and expected, and you can expect to save around 10-15% on the price advertised.
