A short drive along the coast from Casablanca will get you to Morocco's present capital city, Rabat, which unlike the other main cities has a more European feel, evident in the architecture and general pace of life. Attractions on offer in Rabat include the famous Tour Hassan - part of a mosque that construction was abandoned of in 1755 after an earthquake, and also the mausoleum of previous king Mohammed V. The nearby Kasbah des Oudaiahs overlooks the sea and the ancient town of Sale, which is home to the best museum of antiquities in the whole country.
