Zurich Getting Around in Zurich
A comprehensive guide to Getting Around in Zurich! Find out how to get around on foot, by Bus, by Taxi, by Train, by Limousine or Car Hire Zurich Service. Includes a public transportation guide, daily schedules, passenger times and fees, and many helpful hints and tips.
From Kloten Airport - around 10 minutes from the city centre - you can get a train to Zurich, and once there, a combination of trams and buses are available to get you around.
The best value is to be had by purchasing a 24-hour card, which allows you to use the various different modes of transport for a whole day.
The city centre is quite compact, and much of it is closed to cars, making it safe to walk around, and many of the attractions are fairly close together.
There is also free cycle hire in the city, and a bike is a great way of getting around.
Cabs are quite expensive - even by Swiss standards, and with public transport of such a high standard available, few people use them other than in the dead of the night.
If you're planning to leave the city, and travel out into the surrounding countryside, then car hire in Zurich is a great idea, and is good value for money, particularly if you have a lot to see.
