The Blue Mountains lie to the west of Sydney, and are an area of accessible outback filled with gum trees and koala bears. There are plenty of trekking opportunities and the national park has many rangers on hand if you get into trouble.

The park is only around 65KM from the city, and accessible by train, or car, and the main tourist centre is Katoomba, where there are guesthouses and information centres.
