Because of the restrictions imposed on the sale of Alcohol in the largely Islamic United Arab Emirates, most of the best bars to visit are located in hotels, or members only clubs, meaning that there are fewer opportunities to go out than you may expect.
Dubai is more liberal than Abu Dhabi, and there are more public bars in the city opening all the time, but over on the East coast, in Fujairah, because many of the hotels such as Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort are on their own, away from towns, the only for late night entertainment are within the hotel, and the Astro Bar is a great place to listen to music and enjoy yourself.
