Greece as a whole is either famous (or notorious depending on your viewpoint) for the sheer variety and quality of the nightlife that it offers for tourists, and Athens is no different, with a huge range of different places to head for in order to party and to dance away the night.
The nightlife is at its busiest during the winter, because during the summer, the best DJs are often booked to travel to the islands and beach resorts such as Faliraki in order to play in the large clubs there.
The most popular area of the city is Kolonaki, where you can find the popular Rock'n'Roll Bar, which attracts a variety of people but has a strict admissions policy, and can be very exclusive. If you can't get in there, then head to Mommy or Guru nearby.
The bars don't close until around 4am, and nightclubs such as Privilege or Folie, which are open until around 6am.
