Less than twenty years ago, Alicante was a grubby, sleazy port town that stood out like a sore on the face of the stunning Costa Blanca, and would only be visited by people looking for somewhere ugly to go on holiday, but in the past few years, all this has changed, and Alicante has been improved beyond recognition into a welcoming and pretty city on the coast with plenty to offer travellers looking for a Spanish Holiday whether on their own or with family.
Close to Benidorm and Valencia, but with a laid back and pleasant pace of life, Alicante still offers plenty in the way of attractions for tourists coming to the city, and has a great climate year round that makes it a great place to visit.
The nightlife in Alicante too is excellent, with plenty of variety of places to either dance the night away, or just to relax in a wine bar, and the countryside not far inland is very picturesque, with many small villages to explore during a self drive holiday based on the Costa Blanca.
Because of the popularity of the area, you can get cheap deals on flights to the Costa Blanca and on accommodation in the many Spanish resorts throughout the year, and the cost of living in the country is quite low, making a holiday in Spain great value for money.
