The success story at Malaysia Airlines continues apace as they announce a first quarter profit of over MYR130 million, a much better outcome than the MYR75 million they had been forecasting. This also site very well against the same period last year, when they delivered a huge loss of MYR320 million.
All aspects of Malaysia Airlines performance have been enhanced, with revenue, profit and passenger numbers all on the up, leading them to now consider a renewal of the fleet, a situation that can now be realistically addressed from a much stronger financial position.
Travellers on Malaysia Airlines flights to Kuala Lumpur from the UK would normally travel on the Boeing 747 Jumbo, though the new fleet options could well bring in the 787 instead or perhaps the new Airbus A350 XWB. Some long haul routes will also see the superjumbo A380 operating, Malaysia Airlines having eight of these on order currently.
