German Russian Cooperation

German carrier Lufthansa are planning to form a strategic alliance with Russian operator AiRUnion in order to strengthen their positions within the Euro-Russian flight market.

AiRUnion has a strong network of Russian flight coverage, with around thirty five of the major cities in the country catered for. With their cooperation Lufthansa, who already have a good number of flights to Russia, servicing eighteen destinations at the moment, will be able to link into this larger network, creating an unrivalled level of connectivity.

Links between Russia and Europe have been growing steadily for some years now, with trade barriers falling and the two economies growing closer. The natural result of this is an increase in travel between the two, and it is here that Lufthansa and AiRUnion are positioned – very well positioned it must be said.
