Etihad Airways has revealed that it will commence services between Dublin and Abu Dhabi this summer as it seeks to gain the upper hand in the quest to become the number one airline in the Middle East.
For the first time, passengers will be able to book direct flights to Abu Dhabi, while flights to Sydney, flights to Manila, and flights to Bangkok will be possible with just one stop on the way.
The airline will offer the new service using one of its modern Airbus A330-200 aircraft in a three-class configuration.
Initially, there will be 4 flights per week, and prices are likely to be similar to those available from London Heathrow.
The unveiling of the new service was welcomed by the Irish Prime Minister, Bertie Ahern, who told reporters that it opened up a new era in relationships between the Emerald Isle, and the United Arab Emirates.
