American Airlines is set to add dozens of new services to its schedules at New York JFK airport after confirming that it will open a new terminal building at the airport later this year.
The 1.1 billion dollar AA terminal at JFK will allow the carrier to boost the number of flights it offers as it chases local rivals JetBlue and Continental in a bid to become the number one carrier for New York.
Last year, American Airlines offered an average of around 30,000 seats per day from JFK, while Continental offered nearly 46,000. It is expected that AA will push their figures to around 40,000 places if they get approval for a number of new services including increased flights to Orlando, which they hope will prove popular with UK customers keen to spend some time in the Big Apple before continuing their journey to Orlando.
