Air France-KLM group have become the latest international airline to reduce their fuel surcharges in the face of increasing customer belligerence about the fees that are added to airfares to cover high fuel costs last year. The price of aviation fuel has fallen dramatically since last summer, when prices forced airlines to add additional supplements to their fares.
In view of the drop in the price of aviation fuel, which has fallen by more than a third, Air France have revealed that they will apply a reduction of GBP4.60 per sector on long haul flights to Bangkok, while KLM prices will drop by around 75p per sector on short haul routes such as flights to Amsterdam from Manchester, and by GBP3 on long haul flights - a discount of almost 10 percent!
Other airlines that have recently reduced surcharges by similar amounts include Qantas, Singapore Airlines, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic.
