Cape Town is a popular year round destination, although the summer (December - January) can get fairly hot and humid. If you are planning to travel on to the Garden Route, then spring (September-October) is the time when most of the flowers are in season. Autumn brings the wine harvests, and the latest vintage goes on sale, while in Winter, Cape Town is at it's coolest- though still very mild, and is a good time to visit the country as a whole, particularly if you want to include safari at one of the national parks such as Kruger or Shamwari in your itinerary.
