Away from the pollution and bright lights of the main cities, there are many National Parks in Korea, and one of the most popular is Seorakasan National Park, which lies on the East coast close to the De-militarised Zone (DMZ) the park is filled with scenic trails through mountains and forests. It is also home to the Osaek Hot Springs, which gets very busy on the weekends, but is a great place to enjoy some traditional Korean Spa pampering.
The temple site of Beopjusa is in the Songnisan National Park in the centre of the Country, accessible by train from Seoul, and is one of the most historic sights in the country.
To the east of the country, you can visit the beaches at Samcheok, which are the premier destination in the country for people wanting to swim in the sea, and sun themselves in Summer. Hotels and restaurants are available in most of the resorts, including Geundeok, Yonghwa, and Imwon. The beaches get busy at times, but on it's never too hard to find a spot away from other people.
