South Korea takes up the bottom half of the peninsular it shares with North Korea, and is a place of great natural beauty, and swollen metropolises, where the ultra modern embraces the rich history of a country unlike any other, and the glass fronted skyscrapers reflect images of ancient palaces in their mirror like cladding.
The capital city Seoul is most people's first introduction to the country, and the towering city lit with neon is a buzzing place with a great deal of sights and sounds to explore. There are many markets where traders jostle, located around the city gates, and the traditional royal palaces are homes to museums with breathtaking artefacts in jade and gold. The city is easy to navigate, and when the bustle of modern Korea gets to be too much, there are several large green parks to unwind in. Of these, Namsan Park is the largest, and the landmark Seoul Tower, which rises some 480m above Sea level inside the park, is home to a great revolving restaurant, as well as an aquarium and fun park.
On Yeouido Island in the centre of the city, and referred to as Seoul's Manhattan, you can see the Full Gospel Church which welcomes 50,000 worshippers on a Sunday morning, and is one of the largest in the world.
There are cheap deals on flights and accommodation to Seoul in South Korea throughout the year, and on arrival the infrastructure of the country makes it an easy place to tour around in order to pack as much or as little into a holiday as you can.
