Iceland Currency in Iceland foreign exchange rates

What is the Currency in Iceland? Find out what type of money or foreign currency you will need when travelling to Iceland. Learn about foreign exchange rates, Banking, Currency & Taxes...

The currency used in Iceland is the Krona, although credit cards are welcome everywhere for any purchase.

You can exchange money in the main banks, and the ATMs in Reykjavik will accept most cards that have either a Visa or Cirrus logo on them.

As most things - apart from fish - must be imported to the country, Iceland is certainly not the cheapest place to visit, and most things are more than you would pay at home, although souvenirs are good value, and hotel rates are quite low.

Tipping is not usually necessary, as restaurants will often add a service charge to the bill, if they haven't, then 10% is about the norm.
