Fiji Currency in Fiji foreign exchange rates

What is the Currency in Fiji? Find out what type of money or foreign currency you will need when travelling to Fiji. Learn about foreign exchange rates, Banking, Currency & Taxes...

The currency used locally is the Fijian Dollar, although increasingly, credit cards are becoming widely accepted in the major tourist destinations and in major cities, and you can withdraw money from ATMs using Visa cards in most cities.

The best exchange rates tend to be US, Australian and New Zealand Dollars, although Sterling is also widely accepted.

Because the islands making up Fiji are so dependent on Tourism, they are not the cheapest place in the world to visit, although if you wander off the beaten track to places frequented by the locals, you can pick up some bargains.

Tipping is becoming more and more common for good service in restaurants, and taxi drivers will often expect to keep the change from a fare by saying that they have nothing left.
