The currency used in Argentina is the Nuevo Peso credit cards are only accepted in hotels in the larger cities such as Buenos Aires and Cordoba, and ATMs usually accept foreign cards. Many places will accept US Dollars as payment in the larger cities due to the uncertainties about the local currency, and offer a good deal if you offer them.

In the past, argentina had a reputation as being one of the most expensive places to go in the world, although the recent devaluation of the Nuovo Peso has halved prices for tourists and made it extremely good value as a destination, and these days a good meal in a reasonable local restaurant is available from less than £5 per person - although you'll need to pay much more in a tourist hotel.

It is customary to leave a tip of around 10% in most restaurants as a reward for good service.
