Although China was badly affected by the SARS outbreak in 2003, the few cases since then have been isolated, and not been seen as a major threat to travellers.
There is no reciprocal healthcare agreement between the UK and China, and as such every traveller to the country should ensure that they have adequate travel insurance that will provide them with sufficient cover to cover expensive medical bills and/or repatriation expenses should they need to return to the UK.
