Delhi Getting Around in Delhi

A comprehensive guide to Getting Around in Delhi! Find out how to get around on foot, by Bus, by Taxi, by Train, by Limousine or Car Hire Delhi Service. Includes a public transportation guide, daily schedules, passenger times and fees, and many helpful hints and tips.

Most travellers to Delhi are lucky enough to have their initial transfer from airport to hotel included in their holiday package, although for those that are not, a decision must be made about how to get into the city.

The choice is between bus, taxi, and motorcycle rickshaw, and each of them is fraught with peril.

Buses are dirty, overcrowded, and driven suicidally along routes that are never fixed, and whenever they stop, passengers climb over each other to get off while others are getting on. They are on the other hand, very cheap.

Being private, taxis are not overcrowded, on the other hand they are dirty, and suicidally driven, and in comparison with the buses, are expensive.

Motorcycle rickshaws are fun, but you do take your life in your hands when you get on them. They are about half the price of a taxi, and of the three modes of transport they are the ones that are best to go for. You take a risk with any of them, but at least in the rickshaw you'll go out with a smile on your face.
