A comprehensive guide to Getting Around in Barbados! Find out how to get around on foot, by Bus, by Taxi, by Train, by Limousine or Car Hire Barbados Service. Includes a public transportation guide, daily schedules, passenger times and fees, and many helpful hints and tips.
From arrival at Grantely Adams International Airport, most travellers on package holidays will already have their transfer to the hotel arranged, and a representative will meet them. For those who haven't, there is a good bus service to most of the island from the airport, as well as taxis.
Buses on the island are cheap, frequent and offer a comprehensive network, although they can get busy. The Taxis do not have meters, so it is vital to confirm the fare prior to setting off. Barbados has a good road network that covers the entire island making it very easy to explore.
Hiring a car or a 4WD is a great way to tour the island independently, allowing you to stop when you want, where you want. If you fancy something a bit different, why not hire a classic Mini-Moke.
