There are plenty of bars and clubs in Vancouver, and the popularity of the city with younger tourists means that there is a vibrant nightlife scene that is inclusive rather than exclusive, and although there are members only clubs within the city, the chances are that you will be able to get in on the night - provided that they are not too busy.
The most popular areas of the city are Gastown, Yaletown, and the area surrounding Granville Street in the city centre. Davies Village lies to the west of Granville Street, and is recognised as being the gay village of Vancouver.
One of the most popular pubs in the city is the Piccadilly, in Gastown, which has a laid back atmosphere, and often features live bands, while Zin is more upmarket, and has a wine bar feel that attracts a more sophisticated crowd.
Clubbers will not be disappointed by the selection in Vancouver, and there are plenty of nightspots that stay open until 4am. The best of the clubs are on Water Street in Gastown, and Shine and Sonar lie some distance apart, but close together in their music policy of hip-hop and a variety of dance.
The famous Commodore Ballroom has been packing in the crowds for years to see live music, and many big name acts play at the venue throughout the year.
For specific events, and an up to date what's on guide, its best to pick up one of the local papers when you are in the city.
