A strong performance for Air France saw second quarter profit exceed USD 1 billion even with steadily increasing fuel prices to contend with.
Strong demand on the long haul network helped underpin this rousing performance, with flights to New York being a significant contributor to the bottom line. This standard of performance is also anticipated in the forthcoming period, with company objectives set for a further increase in operating income.
The actual figures reported here have been boosted by the sale of the carriers stake in Amadeus as well as a large reduction in net interest costs, but it is still a strong performance operationally. Air France have increased passenger revenue by over six percent, with operational revenue up by around 5.8 percent, excellent figures in a difficult market.
