Published: 16/03/07
From Monday, German carrier Lufthansa will cease to offer paper tickets on all of its German domestic routes. The move is expected to be followed by a complete end to the issuing of paper tickets by the airline later this year.
The introduction of e-tickets has been an ongoing project across the airline industry for several years, due to the enormous cost cutting benefits that they provide, both in administration, and handling, but only the low cost carriers have managed 100 percent implementation so far.
Lufthansa, hopes that its move to eradicate paper tickets from its entire network will save it in the region of 10 million euros per year across its entire network, which includes flights to Hong Kong and many other destinations.
