In what seems like a concerted effort by unions to hammer the final nail into Alitalia, more strikes across the network brought chaos to flights, and underlined the massive problems with keeping staff under control that are faced by any potential partners that the Italian Government can convince to invest in the failing carrier.
The latest gripes from the employees of the airline are centred on the possible privatisation of Alitalia, which they argue will lead to job losses, although probably fewer than bankruptcy.
The airline, which offers flights to Milan from London Heathrow, has been in trouble for months, and it is thought that the Italian government may well pull the plug on it if a potential saviour does not come to its rescue in January.
