The Summer of 2009 will be a busy one for Lufthansa since they will be taking delivery of their first A380 super-jumbos and also introducing a brand new First Class service across the fleet.
Latest figures from the carrier show that around twenty percent of the total passengers carried travel in either Business or First Class, and half of their total long haul revenue comes from these premium offerings. With results like these it is no wonder Lufthansa are investing in the expansion of such a profitable service.
As a major European operator it is quite obvious that business travellers make up a large part of the 20 percent of passengers mentioned earlier, using the premium services on their flights to Munich and the other important European cities. As long as they ensure these passengers remain satisfied then the airline can afford to concentrate on the long haul area, where profitability is the objective.
