The huge open space of Wenceslas Square in the centre of the city is the main nightlife area, and this part of Prague is busy throughout the day with shoppers and café dwellers and revellers at night.
Charles Bridge lined with statues has been the main link between the two sides of the river since the 16th century and these days is filled with tourists taking photos of the most picturesque views of the city.
Prague Castle stands above the lesser town, Mala Strana to the west of the city centre, and is surrounded by parkland. Close by, at the foot of the hill is the church of St Nicholas, which dominates the skyline of the area with its large cupola.
Above the city, on the top of Petrin hill (accessible by funicular railway) is the 62m tall copy of the Eiffel Tower that was built for the 1891 Prague Exposition. There are 299 steps to the top, and from there you can see some spectacular views of the city and surrounding countryside.
