Amongst the many attractions available in Geneva, the most stunning are the skyline dominating Cathedrale de Saint Pierre, who's Romanesque - Gothic architecture stands over the city and was once the home of leading Calvinist Preacher John Calvin.
The iconic Jet D'Eau (jet of water) does exactly what it says on the tin, shooting a 140m high plume of water into the air at a speed of nearly 300KMH. The show can be seen from miles around, and frankly that's about the best place to stand, as the 7 tonnes of liquid that it squirts into the air have to fall somewhere, and its almost certain to be on your head.
A slightly more introspective kind of enlightenment can be found by wandering through the International Red Cross Museum to the north of the city centre, where you can see exhibits concerning both the history and work of this group. Parts of the display are illustrated by fairly graphic and unpleasant images of suffering, and it's not necessarily a good idea to take young children around.
