Bangkok has a wide variety of temples and palaces that are open to the public and can be toured. The Emerald Buddha is the most revered statue in the country, made out of a single piece of Jade, but there are also the Golden and Reclining Buddha to see as well.
The Grand Palace has a dress code, which requires arms and legs to be covered at all times, but again is well worth seeing. With more than 100 buildings within the complex, it is unlikely that you will manage to see all of it in one day.
