The local currency is the Singapore Dollar, although credit cards are widely accepted throughout most of the city. Bargaining is expected in most shops and on market stalls, although if you do negotiate on price, you should pay in cash.
Typically, prices in Singapore are much lower than those in the UK, although higher than in many other Far East cities. You do not need to leave a tip in a restaurant, as the rates should already include a service charge of 10-15%, although it is common practice to leave a small amount if the service is particularly good.
